Fashion and sewing week 2 part 2 updates.

Yep, I am continuing my sewing journey. For those of you who are new, I will do a quick update about what I have been doing this week. So, what have I been doing?

Well, I recently got myself a nice little small sewing machine, a 202A, which has become my go-to tool for various future sewing projects. It’s compact yet powerful, and I’m truly enjoying exploring its features. The first project I decided to tackle with my new machine was a cute headcovering for praying. I personally did a fashion design drawing for this unique piece, sketching out the design and colors to ensure it aligns with my vision.

The drawing I created not only served as inspiration but also helped me visualize how each part of the headcovering would come together.

I’m excited to share my progress and the final result with all of you soon! Below are the design sketches I made, which illustrate my concept and the colors I decided on. I’m looking forward to receiving your feedback and perhaps even some suggestions for my next sewing project!

Well…. I was planning to do that sewing project right away, filled with excitement and creativity, but then a problem came up that threw a wrench into my plans. The issue was my missing scissors, which I realized I couldn’t find anywhere in the house, no matter how thoroughly I searched. Frustrated but determined to continue with my project, I quickly turned to Amazon and after browsing through several options, I decided to buy a new pair called “Boomiboo” scissors. These scissors were cheap and had good sharpness and comfortable grip, promising to make my sewing experience much more enjoyable this time around. Now, with my new scissors on the way, I couldn’t help but feel hopeful that I’d be able to dive into my long-awaited sewing project soon.

Best part is the scissors cut very nicely and thus my project journey continued. But halfway through sewing my project on my new sewing machine, I realized something important. First, I didn’t have much time to complete it, and second, I didn’t know how to sew on this new sewing machine very well yet. This realization led me to decide to pause my sewing for the time being. Now we are here.

Therefore, I have some new updates to share. After careful consideration, I decided to sew the rest of my project by hand until I feel more confident using my sewing machine. Hand sewing can be a rewarding experience in itself, allowing for a more intimate connection with the fabric and detail.

I want to complete the project thoroughly and with care, so I believe that taking this approach will allow me to refocus my energy and spend quality time on every stitch. Here are the completed sections by hand instead of using the sewing machine, as shown in the pictures below. This journey may have taken a turn, but I am excited to see where this hands-on approach leads me in the end.

I.e for the next sewing project after this head covering for praying project is completed, I will be making socks. By then, I should have a better understanding of this sewing machine and hopefully improved sewing techniques as well.

Anyway, why socks for the next project? Well, because it’s winter, and I have materials. Making socks is not only practical but also fulfilling. With the colder months upon us, warmth is a priority and socks are always in demand. I intend to donate them since many charities request socks for the winter season, alongside gloves. This way, I can utilize my sewing skills to help those in need. Once I complete the socks, I plan to tackle gloves as my next project. I find it a great way to apply what I learn and contribute positively to the community.

Down below is the completed first fashion and sewing project on this website blog called pecanpieandchocolatemilk.com.

As you can see, the machine I use I didn’t perform as well on it, so it turned out a bit odd. However, I want to highlight that I genuinely appreciate the way the machine stitched the needlework. There’s a certain charm to the stitching I managed to achieve, which I find quite endearing. On the other hand, the sewing by hand of the rest of the project brought my own personal touch to it, demonstrating the effort and care I put into my work. The process of creating something from scratch, especially for practical needs, has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I look forward to sharing more of my sewing journey as I continue to develop my skills and complete these sewing projects.

Someday in the future when I am better at sewing on a machine and have a better handle on sewing techniques, I will definitely revisit this project. It’s exciting to think of the possibilities and improvements I can make with a little more practice and knowledge under my belt. I genuinely look forward to it.

In the meantime, I’m curious about what sewing projects or any kind of creative endeavors you’re currently working on. If you’re diving into something interesting, I’d love to hear all about it!
