Bible verse and commentary: Week 5 February 2025

Now we have covered a variety of topics from the Bible dealing with a Christian walk. From repentance and Baptism in Matthew 4:17 to praying in Matthew 6:6 and fasting in Matthew 6:16 and Isaiah 58 to our mission as Christians in Matthew 28:19-20. Now we will be discussing Matthew 10:14-16.

“If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet. Truly I tell you, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.”

What do Matthew 10:14-16 deal with? Well, it addresses the reality of rejection that may confront Christians as they strive to fulfill the commandments set forth by Jesus Christ. These verses highlight that, as followers of Christ, there will be instances when our message is not welcomed, and we may face opposition or indifference from those around us.
